Ranking The Best Divisions In The NFL Stuck

It is an age old debate, and we all do it every year. At the quarter-mark of this NFL season what is the best division in the NFL? This is like the Highlander, there can be only one.

8. AFC South

The Titans have been outscored by 70 points this year, a league worst. And the division, as a whole, has been outscored by the most points -- Houston are +70, Indianapolis are -22, Jacksonville are -35, and as mentioned the Titans are a staggering -70. While this division does house, arguably, the league's best team (Houston), it also contains three of the worst in Tennessee, Jacksonville and Indianapolis.

7. AFC West

The Broncos and Chargers are not bad teams, but Oakland and Kansas City have looked horrid this year. The Chiefs have the league's worst turnover margin at -13, and lead by a comfortable margin. Oakland is tied for a league-worst 6 touchdowns so far this season.

6. NFC South

If I'm going to punish the Texans for their division, I guess I have to punish the NFC's best team as well. The Falcons have looked very good so far, and have shown the ability to come back in a very short time. That said, Carolina and Tampa Bay have issues on defense. Meanwhile, in New Orleans, they just have issues everywhere.

5. AFC East

The Patriots loss to Arizona at home doesn't look nearly as bad as it did when it happened, but even still, the Patriots are leading the division at 2-2. Miami is a competitive 1-3, and had Arizona on the ropes, but couldn't come through. The Jets have been riddled by injuries and a brewing QB controversy. The Bills can score on offense, but that defense hasn't improved as much as everyone thought.

4. AFC North

Having the Cleveland Browns in your division can only get you so high. Pittsburgh should rebound from early season struggles when they get healthy, eventually. Cincinnati and Baltimore both look like potential playoff teams.

3. NFC East

Despite being only one of two division with every team being .500 or better, the division that generally is considered the league's best has fallen off a bit this year. I think the entire Giants roster is Questionable this week. Meanwhile, the Redskins are missing key starters on defense, and have regressed on defense because of that. The Eagles can't stop turning the ball over, and Tony Romo is Tony Romo. This is probably the most wide-open division in football.

2. NFC West

This was very tough, as they are the only other division in the NFL other than the NFC East with all four members at .500 or better. However, as well all know Seattle should be 1-3, not 2-2. San Francisco and Arizona have looked very good defensively to start the season and could both push for playoff spots. St. Louis is great at home, but awful on the road.

1. NFC North

Eventually, the Lions should get better and really reinforce my decision to tab the North as the best division in football. The Vikings are one of the biggest surprises in the NFL now, and if they are able to keep this up should keep this division interesting until the final weeks of the season. I had both the Bears and Packers in the playoffs at the start of the season and see no reason why I should change that now. If the Packers offense continues to stay hot, they should be right back where they were last year.

The NFC South should be 5 and then 6 is AFC West and 7 is AFC East. The AFC west and east are close though, almost tied.

I dont know about the North. I just dont think DET and MIN arent good teams.

I say NFC East is the toughest/best division. That division has the best group of qbs and until the giants don't win the SB it should remain so.

AFC North and NFC East. Id say NFC North too, but i just think there's too many question marks there

i reckon the nfc east is the deepest....u cant trust the vikings record they wont be there come playoffs and the lions are still just the lions. also the nfc west is highly overrated the cardinals will not make the playoffs seahawks will not either with wilson at qtrback. i still reckon it would have to be between the nfc east and afc north, with east just winning out cause of depth within the division. but thats just my opinion. good blog though. and remember FLY EAGLES FLY
